420 All Month: LitreaCola

Indica
High to Very High THC (26% – 30% to 30%+)
Flower

Ahhh, LitreaCola, one of the three pillars of Gele’s lineup, and the second for me to write about. My post for Goji OG was on the 3rd of this month, if you’re looking. To bring it back around, Gele’s site refers to LitreaCola as their “most sought after offering” and there are few statements about cannabis that could possibly be more true than this. We have it consistently now at the store where I budtend, but a couple of years ago, when this strain was only available at most half of the time, sometimes with gaps of up to two months or so, the desperation of some customers was, well, noteworthy. As I wrote in the Goji OG entry, LitreaCola answers the question: “What’s your heaviest indica?” but it could just as easily answer “What will just knock me out?” or “What’s your strongest weed?” or even (and this one is very subjective, I know, but I stand by it as a reasonable answer) “What’s the best thing you sell?”

Before I get into the specifics, one of the things that impresses me so much about LitreaCola (and more to the point, I suppose, Gele’s cultivation of it specifically) is the consistency. This is a grow that I’ve never seen test below 28.6% THC, and while some batches have seen upwards of 33% it regularly tests at just a hair under 30. As I’ve said in other posts, I’m no THC snob, and while my tolerance has naturally gone up over time, I really enjoy a number of very low THC strains, but one cannot deny that LitreaCola is consistently delivering massive potency.

I’ve also tried to move away from the sativa/indica dichotomy, but some strains speak to the stereotypes of those genetics so clearly that they draw me back in. LitreaCola is an indica’s indica. LitreaCola could make Super Lemon Haze want to take a nap in the daytime. It also makes me use a word that I don’t use often if ever otherwise (at least in the context of cannabis): dank. Which gets me the detailed description. These buds are sticky as hell. I won’t use my grinder (a fairly typical style metal grinder that drops the ground-up flower into a second chamber with a kief catcher), because it just gunks it up, sticking to the teeth and clogging up the holes. But make no mistake, this is not criticism; I simply break it up by hand the old-fashioned way.

The flower itself has an amazing aroma, balancing citrus and berry with the lightest implication of something almost cheesy beneath, and all of it just dripping with an enticingly bold pungence. Even if I had no other information to go on, the smell of this bud would immediately inform me that I was in possession of quality cannabis. It smokes very well too, given how almost wet it feels. Part of me almost expects it to be smokier every time I light it up, but its relatively heavy smoke is smooth and almost velvety, losing some of the fruitier tones from the aroma, but that pungent keeps them alive, lingering after the exhale in a very satisfying manner.

I’ve already talked about the high, but to recap, it’s heavy. Some “heavy indicas” just make you sleepy, and this will, but it is such a pleasant ride on the way down. It brings on a calm yet stoney euphoria, and while it exemplifies the concept of “couchlock,” I never feel stuck, just happy to be there. If you’re hitting this to get some shuteye though, I recommend heading to bed the moment those eyes start to blink a little harder than normal, else you may wake up to whatever show your streaming app automatically goes to when it finishes the show you started with, and I for one hate spoilers.
