420 All Month: Super Lemon Haze

Sativa
Moderate THC (18% – 22%)
Flower

Super Lemon Haze is an old (relatively speaking) favorite, one of the first strains I fell in love with when I started working in the cannabis industry. Just as I was starting my budtending job, a friend had introduced me to a different lemon strain (a story for another time), which was the first time I connected flavors with effects, even before we were talking about terpenes specifically. So I was on the lookout for new lemony strains.

And then there was Super Lemon Haze. Some strains are so good at what they do that I am compelled to break from my standard customer service routines. Normally when a customer (particularly a customer with whom I am less familiar) asks for suggestions or education on a strain or product that will do a certain thing (make them feel energized, sleepy, happy, less anxious, etc.) I start asking questions, like “In what context are you planning to use it?” or “Have you had something that did that for you before, and if so, what was it?” or even “Can you be any more specific about the effect you’re looking for so I can narrow our focus?” Depending on the customer, it sounds more conversational than that; I’m relaying the questions in a somewhat wooden and generic way here, but my point is that I get to know the customer as much as I can, so that I can be confident that I’m making the best possible recommendations.

But, Super Lemon Haze. When someone asks for a product that will give them energy, help them focus, make chores easier, anything along those lines, I confidently jump straight to Super Lemon Haze. There are related strains that can be great, and I’m not opposed to shifting gears if for some reason the customer doesn’t seem interested in SLH, but generally, when they ask for whatever version I mentioned above, and I’ll either flip straight to the page in the menu with the version of SLH they’re seeking (joints, edibles, tinctures, etc.), or I close the menu cover, look them straight in the eye, and tell them “You want Super Lemon Haze. It is my hands down favorite strain for energy, focus, and just that little bit of mood elevation that isn’t distracting. I was chatting with a couple of customers a while back about it, and one of them called it his ‘gettin shit done strain’ and that’s exactly what it is. If you’ve got shit to get done, this is my number one recommendation.” Honestly, it may seem contrived that I put that in quotes as if that’s exactly what I say, but it basically is, with only slight variations based on the tone set by the customer.

I usually dig deep into the look, feel, aroma, smoke, and flavor of the strain I’m reviewing. Regular readers and customers know that I love telling stories, and I love painting elaborate pictures verbally when talking about cannabis. I’ll have the normal notes at the bottom of the post, and there’s the picture I took above, but honestly, those details pale so much in comparison to the effects here. This strain could look, smell, and taste like absolute garbage (it doesn’t), and I’d still recommend it for energy and focus, first, every time. If you’ve got shit to do (maybe not sleep, but everything else), Super Lemon Haze gets it done.
