420 All Month: Goji OG

Sativa
High THC (26% – 30%)
Flower

The term “third wheel” implies that the other two wheels are just fine without it, but three points touching the ground is more stable than two alone. Such is how I feel about Gele, the cultivator of Goji OG locally. (Gėlė is Lithuanian for “flower,” which, as someone with Lithuanian heritage on both sides of my family, I love.) By their own words (and I can back this up based on hundreds of relevant customer interactions at the budbar), Headbanger is their “calling card” and LitreaCola their “most sought after offering.” But Goji OG is their “most sophisticated cultivar.” I’ll write up the other two in the future, but briefly, Headbanger is a reliable and heavy-hitting party strain, and LitreaCola is the easiest answer for “What’s your heaviest indica?” But Goji OG (by the way, everyone seems to pronounce this “OG” the same as “goji,” instead of the normally punctuated “O-G” with a distinct break between the letters) can seem like a much more subtle kind of high to describe, even though it sits in the very high 20’s as far as THC%, just like its two sisters.

It’s a beautiful bud, bright green, with a clean structure. Goji nugs look like really good stock photos of cannabis. The flower smells fruity and herbal, with more specific notes of just-overripe berries and a creamy vanilla-like undertone. A berry smoothie with something green in it. The high is out of this world. When I started budtending, I reserved some of the stronger descriptors, because I wanted to make sure that when I said a strain was, say, euphoric, that I really meant it, and not just that it was very uplifting. Regular readers and customers know that I try to be terribly precise, which is why many of my strain descriptions are so long, or require a story or at least a verbally painted picture. But Goji broke me on “euphoric.” I had to use the word for this strain. Heady, cloudy (in a good way), massively uplifting. I could go on. Goji really rounds out the triumvirate of Gele’s offerings. When budtending, one of my favorite little things to do is to successfully encourage a customer who is a regular Headbanger and LitreaCola buyer to finally try Goji OG. Especially when they come back for more.
