420 All Month: Garlic Grove

For the month of April I will be posting a short review every day. I am also working on normal, longer pieces, and will post those as I can, as well as some new merch which is forthcoming.

Garlic Grove caught my attention the moment I caught a whiff of it. It’s pungent and citrusy, strong but clean. It immediately evoked the thought “What would classic American Chinese take-out orange chicken smell like, if it were a strain of cannabis?” The orange zest from the peels, the sweetness without a cloying aftertaste, and the earthiness of garlic sitting quietly but not forgotten in the background all mingle in the nose, creating a very enticing aroma. The buds are tight, well-shaped, medium green with deeper green sugar leaves, covered with long, tendril-like orange-brown pistils. The little nugs are sticky to the touch.

The smoke was medium-bodied, tasting a bit more bitter than the smell, but the pungent notes held firm, highlighting herbal undertones, and it left a light diesel aftertaste that was not unpleasant. The high was interesting, and very enjoyable. I felt a feeling of intense mood-elevating euphoria, but it was as if the high was from the surface of my body out. I could focus internally and feel a sense of lucidity and calmness, but the moment I moved my attention outward, the high washed over me. I turned to no one in particular and declared “I am HIGH.” The body high was nice too, relaxing but not at all heavy, and while my appetite did not increase, my stomach felt settled, and I was pretty thirsty, though not feeling particularly dehydrated.

All in all, this was an excellent strain. Cannabis Caveman has cultivated a fantastic strain, which I very much look forward to smoking again.
