About

You’ll come to know me best by reading the blog itself, but here’s a few things to get started:

I’m in my mid-forties.

I’m married to an absolutely amazing woman. I love her. She knows.

We have three ridiculous kids (an older brother and twin fraternal sisters). I love them all too, obviously.

We also have 3 cats and a dog. I love three of them, and the other, well, we tolerate each other just fine.

Hobbies and interests other than cannabis include:

  • Gaming (tabletop games like D&D, boardgames, card games, and so forth)
  • Crafting (for said D&D, but also any other crafts that strike my fancy)
  • Cooking, and especially baking (I’m a pretty good gluten-free baker, if I do say so myself)
  • Mixology (I’ve shifted from more booze to more THC mixers, but anything really)
  • Star Wars (you may have gathered that I’m a bit of a nerd)
  • Lord of the Ring (still a nerd)
  • Buddhism and philosophical exploration
  • LEGO
  • Beard care (I make my own products, and there’s a post about it here)
  • Flat snapback hats, Puma sneakers, and the belief that sweatpants are outside pants too
  • Ink (tattoos, of which I could always have more)
  • Wishing I had more time to read, but I do listen to a ton of audiobooks and podcasts
  • Music (generic, I know, but to be more specific: 90’s alt rock, hip hop, classic rock, and ska mostly)
  • Spending quality time with my wife (when the kids allow it, so, you know, once a fiscal quarter or so)
  • Whatever my kids are into (video games like Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, Kirby, and Mario Kart; doing a bunch of the stuff above like playing games, building with LEGO, or having them sous chef for me; or cleaning their rooms for them, because they’re monsters hellbent on destroying our house). You know, normal parent/child stuff.

In my professional life I was a teacher for over a decade before shifting to the cannabis industry following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I taught mostly English, as well as Humanities and Behavioral Special Ed. I endeavor to bring that previous experience to every customer interaction I have. I kid with some customers that the only major differences between how I think about this job and my last career is that now all of my students want to be there, and my evenings are the same except that now I don’t have to grade papers. It usually gets an appropriate chuckle, but in all seriousness, that is how I budtend. I am a teacher at heart, a pedagogue driven by sharing my love of the subject matter. I want everyone to at least be given the opportunity and knowledge necessary (however much knowledge that is based on their personal wants and needs) to enjoy cannabis as much as I do.

My employer wants me to note that I work for them, for the sake of transparency, so I’ll do so, but I also want to make very clear that I am not representing them in any official capacity here on my blog. Stoned Coast is 100% owned by me, operated by me, and meant to represent me and my opinions. While the way that I talk about cannabis at work is relatively consistent with how I write about it here, it is necessary to state explicitly that I am not officially representing my employer here on Stoned Coast. I try to be positive about everything I write on the blog, so I avoid reviews of products that are negative, whether they are something I sell at my budtending job or from another company or individual. Everyone’s experiences will differ – even if slightly – from each other, so I take objective stances on things that aren’t personal favorites, and try my best to represent them objectively when the need arises.

All that being said, I am the Budbar Supervisor at SeaWeed Co. in South Portland, ME. Do feel free to come find me there if you want an in person version of the ramblings I pour into my weekly blog posts.
