420 All Month: Pure Kush

This is a bit of a throwback review. This was one of the very first reviews I wrote when I started budtending. Back then, it was basically just for me, so I could keep track of the approximately 40 strains we carried just in flower (which is funny in its own way, since we peaked not a year later with 93 strains, and that’s not counting strains we only carried in concentrates and cartridges). Pure Kush, Moose & Lobsta, Super Lemon Haze, Red Runtz, Blue Widow, and Headbanger were the first half dozen I wrote up. With this entry I’ll have published four of those. I haven’t bothered with Headbanger yet since it’s so popular already (but I’ll get to it this month), and I don’t have a picture of Red Runtz of my own, and I have endeavored to only use my own images of the products I’m writing about, so we’ll see about that one.

So, with that being said, I present to you my Pure Kush review, only ever-so-slightly edited from its original – and very brief – version.

Pure Kush is a delightfully potent-feeling indica, with a lightly pungent aroma and a gentle smoke. The flower is a soft, grassy green with abundant trichomes, giving the buds the appearance of overly frosted tips, the likes of which you might otherwise only find on a boyband circa 1999. 

The first green hits of Pure Kush are so smooth that you might think you didn’t get a good draw, but do not be fooled. Just a couple of hits can bring on a body high reminiscent of ASMR: a slight tingle starting in the scalp or back of the neck works its way down the spine and into the limbs, culminating in a deeply satisfying and relaxing body high. The corresponding head high is enhanced by this distinct physical comfort, encouraging a meditative state of mind. Pure Kush is – simply put – a singular strain, worthy of ranking among the top Indicas currently being cultivated.
